Program Description

Event Details

The Library is seeking volunteers to be Books at our Human Library event 4 pm - 8 pm on Thursday, May 30. A Human Library® is a space where people talk 1:1 without judgment about an aspect of the Book’s life. The concept was created by The Human Library Organization in Denmark.

Participating as a Book provides an opportunity to help challenge biases in 1:1 conversations by discussing your own experience with discrimination, stigmatization, or taboos. You can discuss these topics either as yourself, or as a child or parent of someone affected by biases. Some examples of Books from international events are Vegan, Refugee, Psychic Healer, and Grief. Potential Books should consider any aspect from their past or present that has been judged by others and/or has been stereotyped. Prior to participating in our event, Books will receive virtual training from the Human Library Organization.

Interested or know a friend, family member, or associate who may make a good Book? Please apply by March 25, 2024.
