Employment Type/Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Tuesday-Saturday, including one evening per week
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Salary: $39,975 - $40,950 per year DOQ
The Prospect Heights Public Library is seeking an outgoing and enthusiastic person to join our Youth Services Department. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and loves working with children and their caregivers. We are seeking someone who is organized and creative. You will join a growing team of dedicated Youth Services professionals.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
- Reader’s advisory and reference services to youth and caregivers
- Create and present programs for youth
- Represent the Library at school and community outreach events
- Provide administrative support to the Department
- Review and proofread monthly Elm Leaf newsletter and e-newsletter
- Collection development of assigned collection
- Support planning and implementation of annual reading programs
- Create displays and reader’s advisory handouts, as needed
- Serve as Person in Charge (PIC) as needed
The ideal candidate will be:

Qualifications:
- LTA, BA, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with youth preferred
- Customer service experience preferred
- Ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English
- Bilingual in Polish, Spanish, Russian, or Ukrainian a plus
