School Liaison

Employment Type/Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, regular evenings and weekends required 

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Salary:  $48,750 - $52,650 per year DOQ

The Prospect Heights Public Library District is seeking an enthusiastic, service-oriented professional to join our Youth Services Department. This position is ideal for a collaborative person who loves working with youth, especially in Grades K-5. We are seeking someone who is organized, flexible, and unafraid to try new things. You will join a growing team of dedicated Youth Services professionals.

Major duties and responsibilities include:

  • Reader’s advisory and reference services to youth and caregivers 
  • Collaboration with area schools for visits and large events including Family Nights and the Library’s annual Young Artists Reception 
  • Coordinate and promote services to local teachers including putting together material bags for classrooms 
  • Represent the Library at school and community outreach events 
  • Create and present programs for school-aged children 
  • Collection development of 1-2 collections 
  • Serve as Person in Charge (PIC) as needed

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Organized and self-motivated

Qualifications:

  • LTA, BA, or equivalent experience in primary or early childhood education or childcare
  • Experience working with youth required
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English
  • Bilingual in Polish, Spanish, Russian, or Ukrainian a plus
