Location: Onsite, Prospect Heights, IL
The Prospect Heights Public Library District is seeking a full-time (37.5 hr/wk) creative artist with a background in graphic design to develop engaging digital and print materials. This role involves collaborating on the creation of a wide variety of projects, as well as managing website and social media content. The ideal candidate will excel at verbal and written communication, demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects, and serve as a positive and uplifting voice for the Library’s services and programs.
In this role, you will report to the Head of Communications and work directly with library staff in the development and production of print and digital promotional materials. You will be responsible for the design and layout of our monthly Elm Leaf publication that is mailed to over 15,000 area residents and supporting electronic newsletters. Working with the rest of the Communications Department, you will create flyers, sign displays, and program descriptors and other required graphics for digital and print and online media. The Department’s work is based around Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Adobe Premier | After Effects.
Job Requirements:
This position requires an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Suite is essential along with a basic knowledge of typography, color management, and graphic design fundamentals. Working knowledge of social media platforms (i.e. Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok). Creativity, initiative, and strong organizational skills are a must. Experience in photography and videography a plus. Conversational ability in Polish, Spanish, Russian, or Ukrainian a plus.
