Youth Services Assistant

The Prospect Heights Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, customer focused individual familiar with children’s literature. Successful applicants will be enthusiastic about sharing books, technology, and media with patrons both in the library and on the road. As part of an experienced team, you'll be designing new services and merchandising collections to engage busy patrons.

Youth Services Assistants are responsible for a variety of tasks in the Youth Services Department, which serves children Birth through High School.

Duties: 

Assisting library users in the use of digital and print resources, planning and conducting programs both in and out of the library, assisting with collection development and promoting the library and library resources and services. Developing and implementing projects collaboratively is essential to this position. Fluency in Spanish or Polish is a plus.

Hours & Scheduling: 

Average of 25 hours a week, which includes one evening, alternating Saturdays a month and participation in our Sunday rotation during the school year. The additional hours would be during the weekday.

Requirements:

Experience with children is essential, BA, LTA (Library Technical Assistant) or equivalent child care experience.

Pay: 

$20.47/hr, IMRF
