Job Title: Graphic Artist

Part-Time: 25hrs / Week with Some Benefits

Payrate: $20.50/hour

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

  • Under the supervision of the Head of Communications the Graphic Artist will be responsible for drafting, developing, and finalizing promotional and marketing materials for print and online platforms.  Graphic Artist is also responsible for graphics and layout of The Elm Leaf monthly magazine. Position also assists in stewarding the library’s online presence through social media platforms.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with program staff through creative process in the development of print and digital promotional materials.
  • Develop visual layout for The Elm Leaf magazine with thematic graphics and images tied to library programming.
  • Update and maintain graphics and images for library website.
  • Assist in social media content creation, monitoring, and management.
  • Help maintain library’s consistency in branding and style guide.
  • Perform other duties as assigned related to developing flyers, sign displays, digital graphics, and other projects.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree (Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design Preferred).
  • Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
  • Basic knowledge of typography, color management, and graphic design fundamentals.
  • Ability to connect and interpret library program objectives and needs.
  • Experience with html or CSS is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms (i.e. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat).
  • Able to learn and navigate new technologies and hardware.
  • Creative, self-motivated and well organized.
  • Able to meet deadlines.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write and communicate fluently. Multilingual a plus!
  • Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach various heights.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to push/pull items of 100 pounds or higher while utilizing a cart.
  • Ability for perform fine motor skills tasks.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read various font sizes.
